Biography

Leighton Marissa Meester, born April 9, 1986, is an American actress, singer and model. Leighton is best known for her main role as Blair Waldorf in the drama television series Gossip Girl (2007-2012). She has appeared in films such as, The Roommate, Monte Carlo, Life Partners and The Judge. In 2014, Leighton made her Broadway debut in Of Mice and Men. Leighton’s first single was Somebody to Love and she has recorded various songs for soundtracks. In 2014, she released her debut album (independently), Heartstrings. Leighton has modeled and been the face for brands including Jimmy Choo, Herbal Essences and Vera Wang.

Leighton was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Constance (née Haas) and Douglas Meester, and she has a younger brother, Alexander. Leighton moved to New York City with her mother and then attended the Professional Children’s School. She also began working as a model with Wilhelmina. Leighton’s debut television acting role was in the hit series Law & Order. By age 14, Leighton moved to Los Angeles for more stable work, and attended Hollywood High School and also Beverly Hills High School. She later transferred to a private school and then graduated a year early.
